Accessibility statement
CareHub is used by carers on phones mid shift and by managers at a desk all day. If someone cannot use it, that is our problem to fix. This page says what we have measured, what we have fixed, and what still falls short.
What this covers
This statement applies to the A2Z CareHub web application at a2zcarehub.co.uk: the carer and manager surfaces and the public pages. CareHub also runs inside Microsoft Teams as a tab. That tab loads the same web application, so the same statement applies, but the surrounding Teams interface is Microsoft's and its accessibility is covered by Microsoft's own statement.
It does not cover our own internal administration tool, which is used only by A2Z IT staff and is not part of the product you would buy.
How accessible CareHub is
CareHub is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the platform do not yet fully conform. Those parts are listed further down, by name.
What we have measured and fixed
Each of these was measured in a real browser against the live product rather than assumed from the code, and each is now checked automatically on every release so it cannot quietly regress.
- Colour contrast. Every text colour was computed against every background the product actually declares, not just white. Text that failed was darkened. Status badges keep their colour on the border and tint so the signal survives, while the label itself is readable.
- Keyboard focus. The focus indicator was close to invisible on light screens, which is most of the product. It was changed to a colour chosen on its worst case across both the light and dark parts of the interface.
- Reaching everything by keyboard. Clickable table rows used to be mouse only, and on ten of them there was no keyboard route to the record at all. Every row now carries a real link, so it also responds to middle click and open in new tab.
- Skipping repeated navigation. A skip link and page landmarks let you jump past the sidebar rather than tab through every item on every page.
- Status messages. Loading, error and empty results are now announced to screen readers. Previously none of them were, so a screen reader user pressing Retry was told nothing about whether it had worked.
- Zoom and small screens. Pages were measured at 320 pixels wide, equivalent to 400 percent zoom. Two controls were being cut off the edge of the screen, including the rota's List view button, which is the view a small screen needs most. Both now reflow. The last screens this measurement could not originally reach, the invitation acceptance page and the person's own record view, were measured once real invitations existed and are clean.
- Rota drag and drop. Shifts can be dragged to move or reassign them. Dragging is a mouse gesture, so every shift can also be opened with the keyboard, where the same date, time and carer can be changed in a normal dialog.
What is not fully accessible yet
We would rather name these than let you discover them.
- We have not completed a full screen reader review. The work above makes the platform announce correctly by construction and is verified automatically, but that is not the same as sitting down with NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver and working through every screen. That review is scheduled and this page will be updated with what it finds.
- Rota drag and drop has no keyboard equivalent gesture. Everything it does can be done from the keyboard through the shift dialog, so no function is out of reach, but the drag interaction itself is pointer only.
- We have not been independently audited. Everything on this page is our own measurement. We have not yet commissioned an external accessibility audit, and we will say so here when we have.
Telling us about a problem
If you cannot use part of CareHub, please tell us. Describe what you were trying to do and what got in the way, and include the assistive technology you use if that is relevant. Email accessibility@a2zcarehub.co.uk or call 0204 614 5222. We aim to reply within one business day.
If you need something from CareHub in a different format, ask us and we will work out how to get it to you.
How this statement was prepared
This statement was prepared on 13 August 2026. It is based on our own testing of the live platform: colour contrast computed against every declared surface, keyboard walks using real key presses rather than simulated events, and layout measured in a browser at 320 pixels wide. The findings behind each claim are recorded in our engineering documentation and the fixes are enforced by automated checks on every release.
